Galderma Renews Sensitive Skin Care Research Fund at GW

02/06/2025

Galderma extended its partnership with the Department of Dermatology at the George Washington University (GW) School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) by renewing the Sensitive Skin Care Research Acceleration Fund to support efforts to redefine the understanding and management of this under-recognized condition, the university announced.

Galderma will sustain the Sensitive Skin Research Acceleration Fund, which was originally with a $50,000 grant over 2 years, to drive research that seeks to establish sensitive skin as a distinct dermatological condition rather than a symptom of broader inflammatory diseases.

The renewed commitment will further support the Galderma Sensitive Skin Translational Research Fellowship Program, which provides medical students with hands-on research opportunities and specialized training in investigative dermatology. Initially launched with a $150,000 investment over years, this program is designed to cultivate the next generation of dermatology researchers while addressing the workforce gap in this critical area of study.

“Our goal is to define ‘sensitive skin’ with evidence-based research, improving both patient care and provider understanding,” said Adam Friedman, MD, FAAD, professor and chair of the Department of Dermatology at GW SMHS. “With GW as a hub for cutting-edge dermatological research and diverse patient populations, we are well-positioned to lead this effort.”
