Waldencast plc announced that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Obagi® saypha® ChIQ™ injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) gel, expanding the Obagi Medical injectable portfolio and strengthening the company’s position within the medical aesthetics market.

According to the company, Obagi® saypha® ChIQ™ is indicated for cheek augmentation and correction of midface contour deficiencies in patients aged 21 years and older. The product was developed by Croma-Pharma GmbH and utilizes the company’s proprietary MACRO Core Technology, which is designed to create a stable three-dimensional HA matrix intended to provide predictable injection characteristics and natural-looking results.

Obagi Expands Injectable Aesthetics Portfolio

The approval follows the launch of Obagi® saypha® MagIQ™ and represents another step in Obagi Medical’s broader strategy to combine advanced skincare and injectable aesthetic treatments within a single platform.

“Obagi® saypha® ChIQ™ is a meaningful addition to our integrated aesthetic portfolio—giving practitioners and patients more ways to achieve end-to-end skin transformation with predictable, measurable outcomes, and bringing us closer to our vision of building the world’s leading dermatological megabrand,” Michel Brousset, co-founder and chief executive officer of Waldencast, said in a statement.

Croma-Pharma Chief Executive Officer Andreas Prinz highlighted the company’s longstanding filler experience, noting that more than 130 million syringes have been produced globally across the saypha® portfolio.

The announcement also referenced interim findings from Obagi’s ALOHA (Aesthetic Leadership with Obagi Hyaluronic Acid) Program, a real-world evaluation of Obagi® saypha® MagIQ™ launched in January 2026. According to company-reported data, 94% of participating injectors indicated that MagIQ™ complemented their existing filler offerings.

“The approval of Obagi® saypha® ChIQ™ builds on the real-world success of Obagi® saypha® MagIQ™ and showcases Obagi’s commitment to delivering clinically proven, high-performance integrated skincare plus injectable aesthetic solutions,” said Carolyn Jacob, MD.
