The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) is broadening its educational portfolio with the debut of $kin in the Game, a new financial and technology literacy retreat designed exclusively for dermatologists. The two-day program, developed in collaboration with Wilmington Trust, will be held Sept. 18-19, 2026, at Danfords Hotel and Marina in Port Jefferson, New York.

The course reflects ASDS's growing focus on supporting physicians beyond clinical education by providing practical guidance on financial planning, business strategy, and emerging technologies that increasingly shape dermatology practice.

New ASDS Course Focuses on Financial Literacy and AI in Dermatology

Participants will explore topics including investment strategies, retirement, estate and tax planning, private equity structures, artificial intelligence, technology investments, regulatory considerations, and long-term practice growth. Interactive discussions with financial and technology experts, along with networking opportunities, are intended to provide attendees with practical strategies they can immediately apply in both their personal financial planning and their practices.

"Clinical excellence is only one part of building a successful career," said ASDS President and Course Director Kavita Mariwalla, MD, in a news release. "Today's dermatologists are also navigating complex financial decisions, rapidly evolving technologies and changing practice models. The launch of $kin in the Game reflects the Society's continued commitment to providing education that supports every aspect of a dermatologist's career—helping them to thrive both clinically and professionally."

Course Director Matthew Elias, DO, added the program is designed to help dermatologists critically evaluate new technologies, understand where they provide value, and make informed investment decisions for their practices. The program is open to all dermatologists, with ASDS members receiving discounted registration.
