Allergan Aesthetics Launches Skin Cancer Awareness Month Initiative

Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie company, launched a charitable initiative for Skin Cancer Awareness Month that will support The Skin Cancer Foundation through its Allē loyalty program.
Throughout May, the company will donate $10 to The Skin Cancer Foundation for every new person who joins Allē through the “Refer a Friend” program, up to $100,000. New members who join through a referral will receive $50 off their first Allergan Aesthetics treatment, and referring members will receive $10 off their next treatment.
“As a leader in aesthetics, our commitment extends beyond treatment to education, prevention, and long-term skin health,” Nicole Mowad-Nassar, senior vice president, AbbVie, and president, Global Allergan Aesthetics, said.
The campaign highlights skin cancer prevention and early detection. According to The Skin Cancer Foundation, 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer by age 70, and having 5 or more sunburns doubles the risk for melanoma.
Mona Gohara, MD, a board-certified dermatologist, emphasized daily preventive measures, including broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, shade during peak UV hours, avoidance of tanning beds, regular self-checks, and annual dermatologist visits.
