  • Overview

    Program Chair Christina Y. Weng, MD, MBA, FASRS, is joined by Talia R. Kaden, MD, in this new series highlighting surgical fundamentals. 
    Drs. Weng and Kaden go back to basics with these surgical videos that offer tips for new as well as more experienced retinal surgeons. They walk through the steps for performing a pars plana vitrectomy, then build upon those techniques and describe best practices for performing a diabetic vitrectomy.  

    This activity is supported by an unrestricted educational grant from Alcon.

     

  • Learning Objectives

    Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

    • Appraise the appropriateness of small-gauge surgery on a case-by-case basis, considering case complexity, potential benefits, surgical efficiency, and postoperative recovery
    • Select instrumentation and implement best practices for intraoperative surgical maneuvers that improve surgical efficiency and optimize outcomes
