  • Overview

    This program focuses on preventative treatment strategies for patients with chronic migraines. Its purpose is to improve healthcare providers’ understanding of the how excessive use of over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription pain medications can negatively affect the quality of life for those with chronic migraines. The program also covers the most up-to-date evidence-based treatment guidelines and emphasizes patient-centered approaches when using preventative therapies for managing chronic migraines. Additionally, the program explores the latest advancements in preventative treatments and emerging options for individuals with chronic migraines.

  • Target Audience

    This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of the interprofessional team, including headache specialists, neurologists, NPs and PAs, Nurses, and Pharmacists involved in the management of patients with migraine headaches.

  • Learning Objectives

    After participating in this educational activity, participants should be better able to: 

    • Inform clinicians on the overuse of OTC and other prescription medication by their patients experiencing migraines
    • Provide clinicians with up-to-date, evidence-based guidelines on the use of current prophylactic therapies used to manage chronic migraines
    • Improve clinician's ability to differentiate between the new and emerging preventative, chronic migraine therapies 
  • Accreditation and Credit Designation Statements

    In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by Global Learning Collaborative (GLC) and Total CME, LLC. GLC is jointly accredited by the American Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

    This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 0.50 Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credit for learning and change.
