According to the current recommendations, we should be testing all patients with COPD for alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD). But unfortunately, there are many barriers that can keep us from following these recommendations. That’s why Dr. Brian Smith joins Dr. Charles Turck to share strategies for addressing those barriers and proactively detecting AATD in patients with COPD. Dr. Smith specializes in Family Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine at Versailles Family Medicine in Kentucky.
