When is a Cough More than Just a Cough

Overview
This program discusses the paradigm for diagnosis and management of individuals with chronic cough and addresses strategies to improve the quality of life for these patients. This program also aims to educate clinicians on new and emerging evidence-based modalities to improve the clinicians' awareness and ability to manage chronic cough.
Target Audience
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of the interprofessional team, including pulmonologists, allergists, otolaryngologists, gastroenterologists, gynecologists, primary care providers, mental health providers, and other health care professionals involved in the care of patients with chronic cough.
Learning Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, participants should be better able to:
1. Explain the presentation, primary and secondary symptoms, and diagnosis of patients with chronic cough
2. Discuss the pathophysiology of chronic cough and the impact on patients over time
3. Distinguish how various specialists involved in the management of chronic cough are engaged with the management of patients with varying presentations
4. Outline the avenues of interdisciplinary collaboration in patients with chronic cough
5. Analyze the current trends and practices, highlighting the gaps in the therapeutic management of chronic cough
6. Discuss new and emerging therapies in the management of patients with chronic cough while enhancing patient outcomes
Accreditation and Credit Designation Statements
In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by Global Learning Collaborative (GLC) and TotalCME, Inc. GLC is jointly accredited by the American Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
