  • Overview

Expert faculty discuss the critical role of cardiac and inflammatory biomarkers in assessing myocardial damage, predicting risk, and monitoring treatment response. The program also explores emerging therapeutic strategies aimed at mitigating ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) and reducing the risk of adverse cardiovascular events. Join Drs. Manesh Patel and Deepak Bhatt as they address the long-term consequences of IRI, including the development of heart failure and increased cardiovascular mortality. By providing a comprehensive overview of IRI, this program aims to enhance understanding and inform clinical practice.

  • Learning Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, participants should be better able to:

    • Discuss the key pathophysiological mechanisms of ischemic-reperfusion injury (IRI) in patients with myocardial infarction following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)
    • Analyze the role of IRI in the development of subsequent heart failure and increased cardiovascular mortality in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) after PCI
    • Evaluate the efficacy and safety of emerging therapies in potentially limiting IRI and reducing the risk of adverse cardiovascular events in patients undergoing PCI for STEMI
  • Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of cardiologists, primary care physicians, emergency medicine and endocrinologists/lipid specialists as well as all other physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, and healthcare providers involved in managing patients with IRI.

  • Accreditation and Credit Designation Statements

In support of improving patient care, Global Learning Collaborative (GLC) is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Global Learning Collaborative (GLC) designates this enduring activity for a maximum of 0.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
