  • Overview

    This program is designed to increase knowledge of current disease management strategies for severe hypoglycemia and impaired awareness of hypoglycemia (IAH) and create awareness on the emerging stem cell-based treatments for patients with type 1 diabetes (T1D).

  • Target Audience

    This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of the interprofessional team, including endocrinologists, cardiologists, nephrologists, stem cell transplant surgeons, and other clinicians, involved in the management of patients with type 1 diabetes (T1D).

  • Learning Objectives

    After participating in this educational activity, participants should be better able to:

    • Outline the burden of care and disease management strategies for severe hypoglycemia and impaired awareness of hypoglycemia in T1D patients
    • Explain the mechanisms, current limitations, and successes of regenerative medicine therapy programs for use in T1D
    • Interpret the safety and efficacy data of current transplantation therapies and how novel strategies can improve outcomes
