  • Overview

    The right heart catheterization (RHC) procedure includes various components and measurements that provide the necessary information to help you assess your patient’s clinical status. This course delves into the basic RHC process and its dynamic components, such as calculating the wedge and cardiac output. Learn how to evaluate waveforms and discover tips for getting into the pulmonary artery.   Vasodilator challenges, drugs and dosing, and associated complications are also discussed. You will finish this course with a well-rounded understanding of the full RHC procedure.

  • Target Audience

    This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of Cardiologists and Pulmonologists, as well as physicians, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and all other healthcare providers.

  • Learning Objectives

    After participating in this educational activity, participants should be better able to: 

    • Define the steps to maximize safety and success during a RHC procedure. 
    • Understand the dynamics associated with accurate evaluation of waveforms in the RHC process. 
    • Implement an understanding to differentiate between good and bad waveforms for accurate wedge measurements and other calcuations in the RHC process. 
    • Understand various drugs and associated dosing with the vasodilator challenge.
