Wendy W. Simmons is a board-certified Physician Assistant at Carolina Arthritis Associates and Osteoporosis Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. She graduated from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and then completed the Physician Assistant program at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She completed the International Society for Clinical Densitometry Bone Density Course and has also earned certification through the Association of Rheumatology Health Professionals Postgraduate Rheumatology Training Program.
Ms. Simmons is an osteoporosis clinic specialist. She has been a speaker for Continuing Medical Education programs, has served on pharmaceutical speakers bureaus, and has collaborated on educational brochures. She developed the Carolina Arthritis Associates Clinical Trials Division and has served as a study coordinator, independent joint and psoriatic skin assessor, and sub-investigator. She’s a member of multiple professional organizations, including the American Academy of Physician Assistants which recognized her as a Distinguished Fellow for outstanding service in advancing health care in the community. Ms. Simmons is also a member of the Association of Women in Rheumatology as well as additional regional medical societies.
In addition to her 23 years of clinical experience, Ms. Simmons continues to provide educational updates for NPs, PAs, and PharmDs on clinically relevant topics.
