    Dr. Thomas Quinn is a Professor of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Founding Director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Global Health. He also holds joint appointments in the Departments of Epidemiology, Molecular Microbiology and Immunology, International Health, and Pathology at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Quinn is one of the world's foremost investigators of the epidemiology, pathogenesis, and clinical features of HIV/AIDS internationally. He was one of the first to demonstrate that non-invasive screening for STDs by use of molecular diagnostic assays could extend public health efforts to control STDs to non-clinic settings. Currently, Dr. Quinn directs several field-based programs in Africa and Asia, utilizing community-based STD treatment linked with HIV prevention projects. He is a founding member of the Academic Alliance for AIDS Care and Prevention in Africa.
