After 20 years in private surgical practice in his hometown of Springfield, Tennessee, Dr. Thomas Krueger decided he wanted a different sort of challenge. He closed his practice and went on humanitarian assignements with the international medical organization Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF).

He wound up joining MSF's surgical team and over the course of two years served in Liberia, Nigeria, Sudan (Darfur) and Sri Lanka. Each of Dr. Krueger's assignments involved emergency surgical care and training of local doctors.

After returning to the US, Dr. Krueger opened a new surgical practice, which is affiliated with the Southern Hills Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He has plans to take on another humanitarian assignment with MSF in the near future.

Dr. Krueger attended medical school at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio, and completed his surgical residency at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. He has served on the judicial council for the Tennessee Medical Association, and the board of the Tennessee chapter of the American College of Surgeons. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Krueger also holds a masters degree in theology.
