Dr. Susan M. Swetter is associate professor of dermatology and director of the Pigmented Lesion and Cutaneous Melanoma Clinic at Stanford University Medical Center/VA Palo Alto Health Care System in Palo Alto, California. She is also co-director of the Stanford Multidisciplinary Melanoma Clinic.
Dr. Swetter has been listed four times in Best Doctors in America and was recently included in America's Top Doctors for Cancer and America's Top Dermatologists. She has over 70 published articles and book chapters. Her research interests include primary and secondary prevention strategies in melanoma, staging techniques, and clinical studies of melanoma epidemiology, prognostic factors, and therapy. Dr. Swetter serves as the national dermatologist liaison to the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Groups Melanoma Committee and co-directs the Melanoma Prevention Working Group, a multi-center Intergroup collaboration dedicated to cancer control and prevention.
Dr. Swetter received her bachelor of arts degree (with distinction) from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia. She completed her internship in internal medicine at University of California San Francisco, followed by her residency and chief residency in dermatology at Stanford University Medical Center.
