Dr. Steven Nissen is chairman of the department of cardiovascular medicine at the Cleveland Clinic, as well as past president of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Nissen's research during the last two decases has focused on application of intravascular ultrasound imaging to the assessment of progression and regression of coronary atherosclerosis. His contributions to scientific literature include approximately 300 journal articles in the New England Journal of Medicine and and the Journal of the American Medical Association and others, and over 50 book chapters. In recent years, Dr. Nissen has written extensively on the subject of drug safety.
