Dr. Sharmila Makhija is an associate professor and director of gynecologic oncology at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Makhija was a member GlaxoSmithKline's advisory board for the HPV vaccine. She is the lead investigator for the Adult Women Clinical Trials for Merck and also speaks about the HPV vaccine for Merck Pharmaceuticals. She serves on several pharmaceutical advisory boards where she initiates and runs oncology clinical trials including Genentech. She has also initiated a site in India, at the prestigious Tata Memorial Hospital to run gynoncology clinical trials that have been initiated through the cooperative group GOG and the NCI. Dr. Makhija is a reviewer and serves on editorial boards for several peer reviewed journals. She has authored more than 25 papers.
