Dr. Scott Sharkey is a senior consulting cardiologist at Minneapolis Heart Institute and director of the takotsubo cardiomyopathy research program at the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation. Previously, Dr. Sharkey was an associate professor of medicine at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine, and director of coronary care unit at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

Dr. Sharkey received his MD from Tufts University School of Medicine, and went on to complete an internship and residency at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. He then completed a fellowship in cardiology at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
