Scott Itano
Scott Itano

Scott Itano is playing from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He is originally from a small farming town in Idaho and says he "traded my potatoes for clam chowder when I went to Harvard to study biology." During medical school, he has served as the National LGBT Education Coordinator for AMSA, led the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine’s Family Medicine Interest Group, worked on the school’s admissions committee, and played on the volleyball team.

Mr. Itano says, "When I’m not treating the steelworkers of Pittsburgh, I enjoy playing tennis, running, volleyball, traveling and good beer with good friends. After medical school, I plan on pursuing a family medicine residency in the Northwest. I’d like to practice full-spectrum care affiliated with an academic institution to work as a clinical instructor, with an emphasis on sports medicine, adolescent medicine, community psychiatry, and the LGBT community. I strongly encourage everyone to do family medicine because it’s the best specialty out there! Oh yeah, and because we need more primary care doctors too."
