Dr. Saad Shaikh is an associate professor and member of the teaching faculty at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine in Orlando. He is also an assistant professor at the University of South Florida, College of Medicine and at the Florida State College of Medicine. Dr. Shaikh has authored over 50 peer reviewed publications and book chapters, including the book Eyes on Ice & No Blind Mice: Visions of Science From the Science of Vision, a collection of short stories on the eye and the history of ophthalmology.

Dr. Shaikh received his undegraduate degree in biochemistry from UCLA and his medical degree from UC Davis. He completed an internal medicine internship at the University of California Irvine, residency in ophthalmology at Stanford, and a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Disease & Surgery at Associated Retinal Consultants and William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. He is a member of the Retina Society, the American Scoiety of Retinal Specialists, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
