Robert Pass, MD

    Dr. Robert Pass is a professor of pediatrics in the division of infectious diseases and a professor in the department of microbiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine, where he served previously as the chief and program director of the division of infectious diseases.

    An elected member of the American Pediatric Society and the Society for Pediatric Research, and an elected fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of American, Dr. Pass has also served as the president for the Southern Society for Pediatric Research. He was a member of the editorial board for the journal Pediatrics for six years, and presently continues as a member of the editorial advisory board for the Journal of Infectious Diseases. His major research interests include the development of vaccines and other approaches to prevention of congenital cytomegalovirus infection and treatment and prevention of HIV infection in children and youth.

    Dr. Pass earned his medical degree from the UAB School of Medicine, completed his internship and residency in pediatrics at Stanford University School of Medicine, and finished his fellowship in infectious diseases at UAB.
