Robert Cuddihy, MD

    Dr. Robert M. Cuddihy is medical director of the International Diabetes Center, Park Nicollet Health Services. Dr. Cuddihy came to the IDC in the summer of 2006 from the Massachusetts General Hospital Diabetes Center in Boston. While at Massachusetts General Hospital Diabetes Center, he served as chairman of the division of endocrinology at Newton-Wellesley Hospital and as assistant clinical professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. He taught extensively in diabetes-related courses at Harvard Medical School and in Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital sponsored national/international CME courses.

    Prior to this Dr. Cuddihy was a staff physician and assistant professor at Mayo Clinic/Mayo Medical School. He also served as the associate program director of Mayo's Internal Medicine residency program. He is currently an associate professor at the University of Minnesota Medical School where he provides staff supervision for the endocrine fellow's clinic, teaches in the endocrine portion or the 2nd year medical student pathophysiology course, and lectures in University-sponsored Continuing Medical Education (CME) courses.

    In addition to his active educational and clinical roles, he has maintained a special interest in diabetes research.  His areas of interest include evaluating new therapies and devices related to caring for individuals with diabetes, quality improvement and practice innovation to improve the quality of care individuals with diabetes receive, and the translation of these new therapies and practice innovations into broad general practice. As a member of the IDC's WHO Collaborating Center for Diabetes Education, Translation and Computer Technology, Dr. Cuddihy is an active participant in IDC's programs in diabetes training and education around the world.
