Rita Redberg, MD, MSc
Rita Redberg, MD, MSc

    Dr. Rita Redberg is a professor of clinical medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine (UCSF), and director of women's cardiovascular services at the UCSF National Center for Excellence in Women's Health.

    She has served on numerous national and state committees for the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association (AHA) and American Society of Echocardiography, including as co-chair of the AHA's Science Advisory Panel on Women and Heart Disease and Executive Database Steering Committee, and the ACC's Quality Directions Strategic Workgroup on Appropriateness Criteria. She is a member of the advisory board for several non-profit organizations, including WomenHeart and the Society of Women's Health Research. She has also served in several government roles, including a year-long Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellowship in the United States Senate in the office of Senator Orrin Hatch.

    Dr. Redberg has published more than 100 articles in peer-review publications, and has been honored with many awards, including the AHA's Women's Legacy Award. She earned her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and during this time, completed her master of science degree in health policy and administration at the London School of Economics in London, England. She then finished her internship and residency in internal medicine, and her fellowship in cardiology at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York. She also served as a fellow in non-invasive cardiology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.
