Raymond Levy, PsyD
Raymond Levy, PsyD

    Dr. Raymond Levy is clinical director of the Psychotherapy Research Program and is clinical associate in psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Levy is also assistant clinical professor in the department of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, a faculty member of the Center for Psychoanalytic Studies at Massachusetts General Hospital and a faculty member at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute.

    Dr. Levy graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and then received his doctorate from the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. In addition to being in clinical practice in individual psychotherapy for over 26 years, Dr. Levy has taught adult psychopathology at Simmons College and taught and supervised psychology interns and fellows as well as psychiatry residents at Massachusetts General Hospital.

    Previous to joining the staff at Massachusetts General, Dr. Levy taught and supervised at the Cambridge Hospital. More recently, Dr. Levy served as co-editor of the research column in the newsletter of Division 39 (Psychoanalysis) of the American Psychological Association, where he emphasized the utility of research relevant to clinical practice and the value of clinical questions for current research initiatives.

    Dr. Levy has co-edited TheHandbook of Evidence-Based Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (Springer Press, 2008). Dr. Levy's current research and theoretical interests include the integration of relational and classic forms of analytic practice and theory, as well as continued study of empirical validation of change processes in individual psychotherapy.
