Patricia Sulak, MD

    Patricia Sulak, MD is the Dudley P. Baker Endowed Professor of Research and Education in OB/GYN at Texas A&M College of Medicine / Scott & White Healthcare. In addition to her busy clinical practice, she is Medical Director of the Division of Departmental Research and Director of the Adolescent Wellness and Sexual Health Program. Dr. Sulak received her B.S. degree from the University of Houston College of Pharmacy, her MD degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, and completed her residency in OB/GYN at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

    Dr. Sulak is actively involved in clinical research, conducting numerous studies on women's health issues. She has published and lectured extensively throughout the U.S. and internationally on her research to manage common menstrual disorders. She was awarded the 2008 Perimenopause Award by the North American Menopause Society.

    She is a Board Examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and has served on numerous American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) committees. She has been included in "Best Doctors in America" for several years, and was selected Outstanding Clinical Instructor in Ob/Gyn by the Texas A&M Medical School Graduating Class 2005.

    Dr. Sulak founded and directs the award winning Scott & White Worth the Wait® sex education program (www.worththewait.org) and developed a wellness and sexual health curriculum used by more school districts in Texas than any other sex education program. Dr. Sulak was given a "Heroes for Children" award by the Texas State Board of Education and received the ACOG Community Service Award for her work in sex education.

    While women's health issues and adolescent sex education continue to be a major focus, Dr. Sulak is now involved in wellness issues with an emphasis on promotion of healthy lifestyles to prevent disease. She founded and directs Living WELL Aware, a unique motivational health education conference on the latest medical information on disease prevention and healthy living.

    Dr. Sulak was named the 2006 Distinguished Alumnus at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Medicine. She is married to Jeffrey Waxman MD, a pediatric urologist, and they have 2 sons, Bart and Gabe.
