Dr. Patricia Santy is a Board Certified Psychiatric Physician with a private practice in Ann Arbor, Michigan. A former medical officer at NASA's Johnson Space Centre and noted flight surgeon for the 1986 Challenger crew and associated families, Dr. Santy is a prolific author of a wide array of papers and books dealing with psychiatry, the medical aspects and human factors involved with the space shuttle astronauts and the evaluation of astronaut applicants. Perhaps her best known work is "Choosing The Right Stuff, The Psychological Selection of Astronauts and Cosmonauts."
Dr. Santy received USAF Flight Surgeon training at NASA and was directly involved in the selection of astronauts and the evaluation of them during their training.
