I have been a practicing clinician in the specialty areas of pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine since 1999. I have been the division head of pulmonary, critical care, allergy and immunology for the Northshore Health System since 2014. I currently oversee an expanding division of 25 physicians who manage the entire spectrum of disorders related to pulmonary disease, critical care medicine, sleep medicine, allergy and immunology. Since 2014, we have expanded our outpatient practices, increased our inpatient consultation services, improved educational programming for our house staff and developed several new programs including programs in advanced bronchoscopy, lung cancer screening and COPD readmission reduction. We have recently work with the Mayo Clinic Collaborative focused on improving outcomes and reducing readmissions for patients with COPD. In addition to my clinical activities, I have been lucky enough to participate in, develop, and or lead several educational activities on an international level. I have served and currently serve on many committees for the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) and most recently chaired the ACCP Sleep Medicine board review course and served as chair for the scientific program committee for the CHEST 2016 annual meeting. In addition, I have lectured and led many post graduate, general sessions and board review sessions for several national societies including the ACCP, AASM, APSS and ATS. I recently received The Excellence in Education Award by the AASM in 2016 and the Distinguished CHEST Educator Award by the ACCP in 2017. Finally, I volunteer for several national organizations with most of my efforts being dedicated to the ACCP. I have served in several roles within the ACCP, most recently on the joint finance oversight committee and program committee for CHEST 2017. I am currently a member of the Board of Trustees for the CHEST Foundation and serve a the co-chair for the community service workgroup.
