Nancy Nowak is vice president of clinical operations and chief nursing officer for Intermountain Healthcare, a nonprofit integrated health system based in Salt Lake City, Utah, that operates 21 hospitals, 150 clinics, and has a health insurance plan that covers about 500,000 people. Ms. Nowak is responsible for nursing services, quality, patient safety, clinical programs, case management, imaging, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and laboratory services. Prior to joining Intermoutain in 2003, she served as vice president of nursing from 1996 to 2002 for Baptist Memorial Healthcare Corp., in Memphis. She has also held various other clinical leadership roles in Milwaukee and Kansas City.
Ms. Nowak earned her master's degree in health services management from Webster University in St. Louis her bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri Kansas City, and her diploma in nursing from Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing. In addition, she is a graduate of the Wharton Nursing Fellows Program and the University of Michigan's Business School's Global Leadership in Healthcare Program.
