Michael Rybak, PharmD, MPH, PhD

    Dr. Michael J. Rybak is professor of pharmacy at the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (EACPHS) at Wayne State University in Detroit. Dr. Rybak is also an adjunct professor of medicine in the division of infectious diseases at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. He is the director of the Anti-Infective Research Laboratory at the EACPHS and is affiliated with Detroit Receiving Hospital and University Health Center.

    A fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, the Infectious Disease Society of America and Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists, Dr. Rybak received his bachelor of science degree in pharmacy from Northeastern University in Boston, and earned his doctor of pharmacy degree from the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, his master of public health degree from the School of Medicine at Wayne State University and Ph.D. in Public Health and Epidemiology from Walden University. Dr. Rybak's primary focus of research is antimicrobial pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD) and their relationship to bacterial resistance. His most recent work has been in the areas of methicillin- and vancomycin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and enterococci. Dr. Rybak has published more than 350 articles in scientific journals and has authored several book chapters on topics of antimicrobial PK/PD as well as resistance to antimicrobial agents and the assessment of patient outcomes as related to antimicrobial resistance issues.
