Dr. Kimberly Avila Edwards is a founder of the Texas Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Childhood Obesity at Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas, and is the medical director for Healthy Living, Happy Living, a 10-week, physician-led multidisciplinary program for overweight and obese children conducted in both English and Spanish.
Dr. Avila Edwards is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Medical School, and completed her pediatric training at Baylor College of Medicine. In 2010, after almost eight years in private practice, Dr. Avila Edwards joined the faculty at UT Southwestern - Austin, Dell Children's Medical Center, as an assistant professor of pediatrics. She is fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
