John Solly, PhD

    John Solly is the charity manger for the Myrovlytis Trust, a medical genetics charity founded in 2007 to promote research into rare genetic disorders, focusing initially on Birt-Hogg-Dubé Syndrome.

    Mr. Solly graduated from Edinburgh University with a BSc in biochemistry in 2000, then spent a year in Cape Town as a fellow at the Southern Africa Environment Project before returning to the UK to earn an MPhil in biology at Birmingham University. Mr. Solly then studied at the Gurdon Institute at Cambridge University, where he was awarded a PhD in developmental neurobiology and genetics for a thesis looking at the role of PDZ proteins in cellular asymmetry in Drosophila. Dr Solly then worked at the international management consultancy ZS Associates, spending time in their London and Boston offices advising pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients on sales and marketing strategy, operations and execution, before moving to the Myrovlytis Trust.
