James Jones, PhD, APA-C

    Cpt. James J. Jones is a physician assistant in the US Army and is the program manager for the Interservice Physician Assistant Program. Cpt. Jones began his military career as a Chaparral crew member with the 522nd Field Artillery, National Guard, in Tucumcari, New Mexico. In 1990, he began his active duty career in the Army Medical Department as dental specialist. He has held a variety of leadership positions within the US Army for over 20 years, including company commander, clinical commander, first sergeant, and interservice physician assistant program manager.

    Cpt. Jones earned a bachelor's degree in physician assistant studies and a masters degree in family medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center Physician Assistant Program. He also earned his doctorate degree in health sciences. He is a graduate of the Army Medical Department Officer Basic Course, Captains Career Course, and the Flight Surgeon's Course. He has been honored with the award of the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara and the Order of the Spur. His military awards include the Crew Member Wings, German Armed ForcesEfficiency Badge, and the Expert Field Medical Badge. His decorations include the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal (fifth Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (sixth Oak Leaf Cluster) and the army Achievement Medal (seventh Oak Leaf Cluster).
