Henry T. Greely, JD

    Henry T. Greely is the Deane F. and Kate Edelman Johnson Professor of Law, a professor, by courtesy, of genetics, and director of the Center for Law and the Biosciences at Stanford University.

    Among his current leadership and membership positions, Mr. Greely serves as co-director of the Project on Law and Neuroscience; chair of the California Advisory Committee on Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research; a member of the Stanford Stem Cell Research Oversight Committee, and founder and executive committee member for the Neuroethics Society. From 2005 to 2008, he also was a member of the ethics committee for the American Society for Gene Therapy.

    Prior to his work at Stanford, Mr. Greely served as a law clerk for the Hon. John Minor Wisdom in the United States Court of Appeals; a law clerk for the Hon. Potter Stewart at the United States Supreme Court; special assistant to Deanne C. Siemer, general counsel for the Department of Defense; staff assistant to Secretary of Energy Charles W. Duncan, Jr.; and a litigation attorney (and then partner) for Tuttle & Taylor, Inc., in Los Angeles. Mr. Greely received his law degree from Yale University.
