Nurse practitioner Helen Carcio is the director of the Health and Continence Institute in South Deerfield, Massachusetts. Ms. Carcio trains doctors and advanced practice clinicians via the Web in how to set up community based continence centers. She is also an associate professor in the graduate school of nursing at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. She won the NP Advance "Out of the Box" NP Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2008 and was Teacher of the Year at the University of Massachusetts School of Nursing in 2000. Ms. Carcio has published several books and in peer review journals on women's health issues, and speaks about incontinence and bladder dysfunction.
