Emmet Keeffe, MD
Emmet Keeffe, MD

    Dr. Emmet Keeffe is vice president and chief medical officer at Romark Laboratories, LC, and professor of medicine emeritus at Stanford University Medical Center. He obtained his MD from Creighton University and completed postgraduate training at the Oregon Health & Science University and University of California, San Francisco.

    Dr. Keeffe is a past president of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (1995-1996) and American Gastroenterological Association (2005-2006), and was a member and chair of the Subspecialty Board on Gastroenterology for the American Board of Internal Medicine (2001-2007). Dr. Keeffe is a master of the American College of Physicians and a fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.

    He is editor-in-chief of Digestive Diseases and Sciences, honorary editor-in-chief of the World Journal of Gastroenterology, and executive editor of GastroHep.com. He also serves on the editorial boards of Gastroenterology, Liver Transplantation,Minerva Gastroenterologica e Dietologica, Gastroenterology & Hepatology, and Therapy. His research interests include antiviral therapy of chronic hepatitis C with nitazoxanide and future generation molecules and antiviral therapy of chronic hepatitis B. He has published more than 600 papers, book chapters and miscellaneous publications, and lectures widely at national and international meetings.
