Douglas W. Losordo, MD, FACC is Professor of Medicine, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and Director, Feinberg Cardiovascular Research Institute and Program in Cardiovascular Regenerative Medicine, in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Losordo’s major research interests encompass angiogenesis/vasculogenesis, progenitor/adult stem cells, tissue repair/regeneration, vascular biology, and estradiol effects on vascular tissue. He has received numerous research grants and has been the Principal Onsite Investigator in more than 20 clinical trials. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association Council on Clinical Cardiology and Laennec Society, the American College of Physicians, the American College of Chest Physicians, as well as a member of the American Federation for Clinical Research and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Dr. Losordo has lectured extensively as an invited lecturer at national and international conferences and scientific meetings and is the author or co-author of 16 book chapters, more than 100 abstracts, and more than 100 articles in journals such as American Journal of Cardiology, Circulation, Circulation Research, European Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Journal of Clinical Investigation, and Molecular Therapy. He has been an Editorial Board Member of Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Cardiovascular Radiation Medicine Including Molecular Interventions, and Circulation Research. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Vermont, Burlington, Dr. Losordo completed an internship and residency at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts, where he was also a Cardiology Fellow and a Research/Interventional Cardiology Fellow. He completed a fellowship in Molecular Biology at Cold Spring Harbor Labs, Cold Spring, New York and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine with certifications in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Interventional Cardiology.
