Dr. David Hexter is an emergency room physician and the 2010-2011 president of the Maryland State Medical Society, known as MedChi. Dr. Hexter practices in the emergency department at Harbor Hospital, a community teaching hospital in Baltimore.

Before he was elected president of the Maryland State Medical Society, Dr. Hexter served as chair of the Legislative and Medical Policy Councils, has been an Eastern Group Trustee since 2005, and was the lead plaintiff in MedChi’s successful lawsuit over HMO payment practices. He is also an active member and past-president of the Harford County Medical Society.

Dr. Hexter received his MD from the University of Pennsylvania and MPH from Johns Hopkins, and completed a residency and research fellowship in emergency medicine at Johns Hopkins. He is an elected fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He has published peer-reviewed articles pertaining to infectious diseases in the emergency department, and has served as a stadium physician for professional sports teams in Baltimore.
