Dr. Carol Paris is a psychiatrist living and practicing in southern Maryland since 1999. She completed her medical school training at West Virginia University School of Medicine and finished her residency in adult psychiatry there in 1993. She has worked in a variety of settings, including community mental health, the prison system, and now, private practice. She has served as a visiting lecturer at the Medical School in Grenada, lecturing on the doctor-patient relationship. Her special interest is in resilience, or what makes some people less prone to stress.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Paris is the president of the St. Mary's County Medical Society, and has become a local leader in the healthcare reform effort, through her affiliation with the Maryland Chapter of Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP), an organization advocating for a single-payer approach to health care in the United States.
