Dr. Brian McGowan is employed within the medical education grants group at Pfizer and chairs the Alliance for CME’s Committee on Emerging Technology. He holds a PhD in cardiovascular physiology from Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, where he spent nearly five years as a member of the heart transplant team. He trained as a research fellow in cardiothoracic surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina, and was involved in establishing the Center for Translation Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

After completing his training, Dr. McGowan spent 8 years on the faculty at Arcadia University as course director for the program in genetics counseling. Since 2000, he has dedicated his efforts to advancing the field of continuing medical education.
