Anne Peters, MD, CDE

    Anne Peters, M.D., is professor of medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, and director of the USC Clinical Diabetes Programs running diabetes programs in Beverly Hills and in underserved East Los Angeles. 

    She has been co-chair of the LA County Department of Health Services Diabetes Content Team and has been instrumental in designing and implementing diabetes care programs for the underserved throughout the county. She has authored over 100 publications, including articles, books, book chapters, reviews and abstracts. She established the Community Diabetes Initiatives Research Center in collaboration with Childrens Hospital Los Angeles at the Roybal Health Center with funding from the Keck Foundation, the JDRF, ADA, and California Nutrition Network.  

    Dr. Peters is a Principal Investigator for the NIH Look AHEAD Study designed to assess the impact of lifestyle modification on CVD outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes. She is also a Principal Investigator on the UCLA/USC NIH P50 program project, "Family and Neighborhood Interventions to Reduce Heart Disease Risk in East L.A.". She will be serving on the executive board of the ADA in 2011. She was awarded the ADA Outstanding Physician Clinician Award and the 2010 Bernardo Houssay Award from the National Minority Quality Forum for her work with the underserved.
