Anne Muñoz-Furlong
Anne Muñoz-Furlong

Anne Muñoz-Furlong is founder and CEO of the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN), a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization founded in 1999, with close to 30,000 members today. Her interest in food allergies began with the birth of her second child, who was allergic to eggs and milk. The lack of practical, scientifically-accurate information about food allergies sparked her determination to create a clearinghouse for such information.

Since its founding, the FAAN has become the national and international leader in raising public awareness of food allergies and anaphylaxis and the issues surrounding these allergic disorders. Ms. Muñoz-Furlong has spoken both nationally and internationally before the food industry, schools, health professionals and government organizations, on the work of the FAAN and the patient's perspective. She also founded in 1999 the international Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Alliance.

Ms. Muñoz-Furlong is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, American College of Allergy Asthma & Immunology and National Institute of Health's Director's Council of Public Representatives. She is co-chair of the Conference for Food Protection's Food Allergen Committee.

Ms. Muñoz-Furlong holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and journalism from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.
