Dr. Andrew Sama, a leader in the American College of Emergency Physicians, is vice president of emergency services for the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System. From Manhasset, N.Y., he is chairman of the department of emergency medicine at North Shore University Hospital and chief of the emergency medicine department at Huntington Hospital.

He has been ACEP's vice president in 2011 and has been an ACEP member for more than two decades, chairing the bylaws committee and working as a member of the finance and reimbursement committees. On the state level, where he received the New York ACEP Chapter's Physician of the Year Award, Dr. Sama served as president, secretary/treasurer and councilor.

A graduate of Columbia University, Dr. Sama earned his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College.
