Dr. Kaunitz is a University of Florida Research Foundation Professor and Associate Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Florida College of Medicine–Jacksonville. In addition to serving as Medical Director and Director of Menopausal and Gynecologic Ultrasound Services at Southside Women’s Health, Dr. Kaunitz maintains a busy gynecology practice and teaches residents and medical students. He has authored or coauthored many chapters in texts including UpToDate, has published more than 200 articles in leading journals (e.g., the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Contraception, Menopause), and has served as co-principal investigator for the University of Florida site of the Women’s Health Initiative. He has been invited to share his expertise in contraception and menopause with the Centers for Disease Control, the Food and Drug Administration, and the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Kaunitz has been writing for NEJM Journal Watch Women’s Health since 1996. He was Deputy Editor for 9 years before becoming Editor-in-Chief in 2009.
