Program Description

Our patients' religious and spiritual beliefs must guide our care of them at end of life. Dr. Richard Payne, director of the Duke Institute on Care at the End of Life, tells host Dr. Porter Storey that the patients' conception of pain and end of life will shape how patients and their families will view these experiences. They also discuss how clinicians might navigate medical decisions in the context of culturally-determined beliefs and preferences.
